Our programs can be tailored to the needs of specific workplaces, groups and individuals. Whether you want training for employees, are a professional rescuer, or simply want to know how to help someone in an emergency, GSS will develop a program to meet your specific needs . 

Medical Support Model (10 Minute Medicine) 

 

The Medical Support Model Training is intended to provide training to address a range of medical problems an employee may encounter. 

This training enables the employee to determine the deployment of medical aid, personnel, equipment and other resources for each medical situation that arises. The trainee will learn how to assess the situation and determine what resources are needed, assess/manage the “ABC” (Airway, Breathing & Circulation) status of the patient utilizing American Heart Association Guidelines.

Learn how to use the First Aid Trauma Kit (FAT) and the Automatic External Defibrillator (AED).

Learn to initiate General Patient Care and identify the chief medical complaint. They will also be able to initiate the SAMPLE history (symptoms, allergies, medications, past medical history, last meal and event prior to the complaint).

They will also learn to assess and manage various injuries and/or wounds, i.e., penetrating trauma chest, flail chest, uncontrolled bleeding, abdominal evisceration, impaled object, burns and fractures.

The U.S. Secret Service uses this course for the Presidential Protective Detail.

First Aid in the Workplace 

 

This course meets OSHA requirements and will cover critical steps needed to be taken immediately after an injury or onset of illness in order to save the casualty’s life, prevent further injury, promote recovery as well as ensure that the area is secured for their own safety and the safety of others, especially in the absence of medically trained personnel. Trains the first aid provider what to do until EMS arrives. Includes pediatrics where required. For the layperson who may be required to have first aid for their employment, mandated by state or federal law, or who would like to learn a lifesaving skill. 

First Aid for Hostile and Hazardous Environments 

 

This course is also applicable to persons operating in hostile and hazardous environments who need the necessary knowledge and skills to apply effective treatment using first aid equipment and materials to hand.
